October 2021
After 16 and a half incredible years Shawty's will be shutting its doors

You may know that Shawtys opened on the 9th of January 2005, 1 year and 1 day after the passing of Troy's daughter Samantha, ‘Shawty’.

Since then, we have grown. What began with a humble 5 tables and 4 staff became an incredible operation that employed up to 30 staff over the busy summer months.

But it was more than that. Shawtys was a labour of love that was grounded in culture, community and connection and was ultimately driven by people.

Over the past 16 years we have been honoured and truly humbled by the support we have received, and for every minute that you have chosen to spend with us, sharing in our passion and enjoying the space we created.

Without that support we wouldn’t have the privilege of taking these memories away with us - and we have our staff and our customers to thank for that.

Saturday, October 9th will be out last day of trading - we look forward to seeing you for your last cups of supreme coffee before then. We understand that some of you likely have Shawty’s vouchers still to spend - rest assured if you don’t make it in this week there will be options available for refunding or redeeming these - just pop in and see us next door, at MOW.

When one door closes, another door opens and we are looking forward to a much-needed change of pace for our family. And much more saying “yes”.

We wish the new proprietors of 4 Market Place all the very best with their new venture and hope that you will check it out - we’ll see you there, on the other side of the counter this time.

Again, we want to express our sincerest thanks to everyone who lived this journey with us. Now, on to the next one.

Troy, Rach, Gess, Noah, Ruby and Matt
